Man at Home

As a husband and father myself, I understand deeply the want to provide for ones family. A man can sacrifice himself to provide for his family financially, “Setting them up for the future.” While, this IS a good thing, we do have to be careful in these aspirations.

I don’t have all the answers, but I do think it is worth thinking about these verses. Not all providing is equal. Take some time to think about what you do provide and what you may be lacking. What does your family need most?

Number one is you being a Man of God. Your own relationship with God is the best thing you can provide your family with. When we stray from our homes, we may send a stronger message than we realize. One that says, I depend on my own strength to get things done, rather than being obedient to God and having to trust him to provide what I cannot see.

When we don’t understand where our spouse or kids are at, that’s on us as men to get a grip on. Work hard, yes, but we need to spend time thinking about and praying for your families with at least as much passion. You may not see everything clearly, but God does. He will open in your heart more love for your family than you could ever do on your own.

Proverbs 27:8  Like a bird that strays from its nest is a man who strays from his home.

Proverbs 27:23,24  Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds, for riches do not last forever; and does a crown endure to all generations?
