The Christian Profession

When things get hairy, the last thing I want is something vague. Nothing fake or pretentious. I need to know the things that will get me through. A Survival Guide of solid truth.

That’s what I put together here because I need it as much as anyone. A clear explanation of the Christian Profession that makes sense to me.

If a person is already a Christian man, it is very easy to over-complicate the faith intellectually, while over-simplifying it practically. Both can lead to confusion, errors, and compounding mistakes.

We complicate Faith by over-reading other material besides the bible. It can become a science more than a faith. Christianity is a Faith for one to live by, not a degree to be earned. It is good news for the average dude.

The second issue is that we never get to the place of living our faith out. We leave that to others and don’t allow our faith to face adversity. Staring at your bicep won’t make it grow. It has to be put under strain. Writing out what you believe then getting it challenged will do that for a person.

If this is your first time looking into faith, this is my bare bones take on it. Nothing crazy intellectual. Just some Good News to think through.

Faith begins with God.

He is the author.

Not man.

God knows His own perfection and man’s imperfections.

Man’s imperfection is found in sin.

Sin is condition of being, as well as actions that are anything less than God’s perfection.

God made a way for for the perfect to united with the imperfect.

That way was a sacrifice of love.

Man could not be perfect on his own merit.

It took another to stand in man’s place.

That someone was Jesus Christ. God’s own son.

It was love that drove God to sacrifice His son for man.

It is love from God that drives man back to Himself.

The Faith is a loving gift from a father to His children.

The Faith is trusting the gift to be true.

The Faith is knowing God gave this gift to you.

Romans 3:11-12 None is righteous, no not one: no one understands; no seeks God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, no even one.

No man is perfect.

All man sin.

All man have a sin condition.

John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

God loves Man.

God does not want Man to be without him.

Man needs to believe in God’s gift.

God’s loving gift removed Man’s condemnation, and placed it on Jesus Christ.

Man’s guilt was removed.

Man was saved.

Man is given eternal life with God

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Man needs to confess his sin.

Man needs to acknowledge he is found lacking.

Man needs to know God is faithful.

Man needs to know God loves.

Man needs to know God forgives.

Man needs to know God removes his guilt.

Man needs to know that before God, he is sinless.

Psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

God removed the stain of sin from mankind.

Before God, sin and Man have been separated beyond comprehension.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

God, in loving mercy, gave us the gift of faith.

We did not create the faith ourselves.

Salvation is not from the works of man.

Man feels humbled and loved because the Creator of all things would gift the gift to them.

1 Peter 1:8,9 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
